A New York man has been sentenced in a federal drug trafficking case tied to the dark web.
25-year-old Jianhua Zhao, a Chinese national living in Brooklyn, was sentenced to 78 months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.
Federal investigators say Zhao stored and packaged drugs at his home, then mailed them to buyers across the country who placed orders online. Authorities say the investigation led to the seizure of more than two-million dollars in virtual currency.
A co-defendant in the case was previously sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.
