(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle on westbound I-94 near the Watervliet exit early Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened around 2 a.m. near Exit 41. The man was found along the side of the highway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver told investigators the pedestrian was standing in the westbound lanes and there was not enough time to avoid him. No one in the vehicle was hurt.

Police say early indications show neither speed nor alcohol was a factor.
