Elkhart pedestrian killed in crash

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Elkhart Friday night.

Police say the crash happened around 7:59 near County Road 4 and Cassopolis Street. Investigators believe a northbound Jeep Wrangler hit the pedestrian in the road.

First responders found the woman unresponsive and took her to a hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not been released.

The Jeep’s driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Elkhart police’s Crash Team is investigating.
