An Elkhart man charged with attempted murder appeared in court for a pretrial conference. 

35-year-old Jeffery Estep faces a Level One felony charge after police responded to an injured man in the 600 block of Maple Row in July.

The victim suffered a severe head injury and was taken to a hospital.

According to The Goshen News, Estep told the judge he wants a speedy trial.

His jury trial is scheduled for February 1.
