The Yorktown High School football team honored senior defensive end Christopher Wilson Jr. during Friday’s game, just days after the 17-year-old star was shot and killed in Muncie.
Yorktown took the field against Pendleton Heights starting with just 10 players, leaving a spot open for Wilson. His #79 jersey was carried to the coin toss, and teammates, family, and guests wore shirts with Wilson’s picture.
Wilson had committed to West Virginia University and was remembered by classmates as a friend to everyone.
While seeking answers and justice from investigators, Wilson’s family plans to continue attending games to support his teammates.
“He is out here,” said Wilson’s stepfather, Derrick Price. “He’s everywhere. Can’t miss him.”
