A 45-year-old Goshen man was arrested after police say he was found wearing a possible bomb vest during a traffic stop early Wednesday morning, June 22.

Sherman Fuller was booked into Elkhart County Jail on a preliminary felony charge of unauthorized possession, manufacture or distribution of a destructive device, the Goshen Police Department said.

The investigation is ongoing and the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office will decide final charges.

Fuller was pulled over while driving a white truck on U.S. 33 near Riverside Drive in Goshen at about 12:30 a.m., Goshen Police said. The officer noticed Fuller was wearing a vest with wires coming out of it. It took about an hour for the officer to convince Fuller to get out of the car without the vest.

The Elkhart Bomb Unit disarmed the device just after 4 a.m.
