United Way of St. Joseph County has distributed its blue People Gotta Eat barrels at seven different Martin’s Super Markets locations in Granger, Mishawaka and South Bend.

The agency is encouraging residents to donate non-perishable items to help fill local food pantries.

The barrels will be at select Martin’s locations through the end of October.

People Gotta Eat is an initiative of the local United Way branch that helps those in the community without the means to eat or to secure adequate food for their families.

For more information on how to help feed family, friends or neighbors, contact Sheri Niekamp  via email or call (574) 232-8201.

Information is posted on the United Way of St. Joseph County website. Click on the People Gotta Eat donation button. Donors can send checks via mail to 3517 East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, IN, 46615-2282. Make the check payable to UWSJC with the memo “People Gotta Eat”.
