Elkhart Police seeking information after woman on bicycle injured, hospitalized

The Elkhart Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a woman on a bicycle was injured.

On Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM

Officers were sent to the 800 block of West Bristol Street around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 in regard to a crash with injuries, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

Officers were advised that the crash involved a bicyclist and a motor vehicle.

For unknown reasons the bicyclist crashed causing the rider to strike her head on the roadway or curb, Snyder stated.

Witnesses at the scene could not state the exact reason the bicyclist crashed; if the bicyclist lost control or if the bicyclist collided a vehicle, Snyder stated.

The bicyclist, a 41 year old woman, sustained a head injury and was transported to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment.
