Elkhart County police officers shot at while fueling cars

Two Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department officers were fueling their vehicles when a gunshot was fired in their direction.

It happened around 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the Countrymark gas station in the 2900 block of Peddlers Village Road in Goshen, accoding to Capt. James Bradberry with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The gunshot is believed to have been fired from a residence located at 21000 block of County Road 28, Bradberry said.

Officers responded to the home and found several people at the residence.

A search warrant was requested for the home, Bradberry said.

The investigation is still underway.

There were no injuries reported.
