Top 10 fugitive and sister arrested in Michigan City

A Top 10 fugitive has been arrested in LaPorte County, and the suspect’s sister has been charged with helping him stay hidden.

Thomas Harrington, 34, had been wanted since December 2015 for stalking, resisting law enforcement and failing to appear in court for resisting law enforcement, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

Harrington was taken into custody on Tuesday, Aug. 30 by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team and Street Crimes Unit after he ran from a home in the 1300 W. Block of 8th Street in Michigan City.

Police had been conducting surveillance on the home and spotted Harrington. Investigators say he tried to run off, but was subdued with a taser, the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Harrington’s sister, Alesia Bowers, 31, of Michigan City, was charged with assisting a fugitive.
