Senator Dan Coats doesn’t want planes with millions of dollars as its cargo flying to places like Iran anymore.

Coats, who sits on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, co-sponsored legislation that would ban ransom payments for hostages. It would prohibit the Obama Administration from making future ransom payments to Iran and would ensure any funds provided to Iran are not used to sponsor terrorism.

In January, the Obama Administration delivered a 400 million-dollar cash payment to Iran that directly coincided with the release of a group of U.S. hostages. News reports this week confirm that the administration sent a total of $1.7 billion dollars in cash to Iran earlier this year.

The No Ransom Payments Act was introduced by Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.
