A Union Mills politician is facing legal heat for allegedly walking away from a crash.

David Decker, 71, turned himself in to the LaPorte County Jail. He was booked and since has been released, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.

Indiana State Police investigated in the incident, which happened in a parking lot in the 500 block of Michigan Ave. in LaPorte. Decker allegedly sideswiped the bumper of a parked SUV and then drove off last Wednesday. He didn’t leave his name or contact information as legally required.
