Some 5,000 Thanksgiving dinners are being donated for this holiday by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and Four Winds Casino.

Together, they made a huge donation of 1,000 boxes with meals for Thanksgiving, each capable of serving five people, according to WSBT.

Each box holds a turkey, a 3-pound bag of potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, and even an apple pie.

The tribe and the employees say they plan to do this again at Christmas, and wish they could do even more. The tribe credits food pantries and church groups that do amazing work to feed the needy in our area, and remind everyone that hunger doesn’t just happen around the holidays.
