Around 40 business owners in South Bend made their voices heard to Mayor Pete Buttigieg about the homeless problem they say is affecting their businesses.

The meeting took place Monday among business owners around the Monroe St. area, according to WSBT.

Business owners say that the homeless are bothering customers as they walk into businesses, usually asking for money.

Mayor Buttigieg is hoping to add more police around the businesses. In addition, he’s hoping for a permanent solution before next winter. He says plans for the city and Hope Ministries to house 30 men from December 1 until April 1 is a temporary fix, according to WSBT.

The Mayor continued the conversation with South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski Tuesday.
