Elkhart’s Franklin Street Gas Plus convenience store has finally reopened.

It’s reopened two and a half years after it closed after a synthetic drug raid. The property had been empty since the June 2014 raid involving several stores, and after a lengthy process it reopened on Tuesday, according to the Elkhart Truth.

There had been a lot of public outcry when the store closed after the raid, as it was a vital part of the neighborhood for many patrons.

The store is owned by the same person that owns Sunnyside Food Mart on Benham Avenue, which re-opened in October. Additionally, the former Marathon station a couple of blocks away might also reopen by the end of the month.
