A six year-old girl was allegedly kept locked in a closet and only allowed out to use the restroom. A five year-old boy was made to wear a diaper in sleep in a makeshift cage whe he misbehaved.

Department of Child Services officials reportedly received a tip from the mother of the children. Police arrested Nick Matney at the home on Linden Street in Mishawaka on Monday. The closet was found in a downstairs bedroom, and showed evidence of a makeshift locking device to keep the girl inside.

Matney was released on bond, and is wearing a GPS device. He faces six felony charges of criminal confinement and neglect of a dependent.

His hearing has been scheduled for April 18th.
