It seems the recreational vehicle industry, with its heart in Elkhart, breaks a record every month lately. Well, March was no exception to that fact.

The RV industry shipped 47,579 units in March. That’s the highest monthly total of shipments not just for the month of March, but ANY month ever on record, according to the Elkhart Truth.

March’s totals represent almost a 21 percent increase from February this year and almost a 17 percent increase from March of last year.

Almost 121,000 wholesale shipments have already been made this year alone, up almost 12 percent from this time last year.

Towable trailers appear to be leading the surge, making up about 88% of total RVs shipped for the month of March.

Motorhome shipments are also up about 17 percent for the year, too.
