Beacon Health System is celebrating the opening of a new Children’s Hospital in South Bend.

The ceremony on Wednesday marked the end of a $50 million construction project, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The new hospital was financed in part with $12 million in donations. Beacon serves families in 15 counties in Michigan and Indiana, and the new facility will place a number of different services within a single, almost 100 thousand square-foot facility.

Beacon is recruiting a pediatric surgeon and looking to improve tele-health communications to expand their services even further at the new location.
