Four out of the ten people accused of being involved in Elkhart County’s biggest-ever drug ring have pleaded guilty.
Two of them, 29-year-old Jorge Moreida and 40-year-old Juan Rivera, each pleaded guilty Thursday to dealing meth and corrupt business influence. Rivera will be sentenced to 20 years in prison on June 29, while Moreida’s 19 and a half year sentence is pending his testimony at the June 5 trial for three other defendants, according to the Elkhart Truth.
47-year-old Sandra Drake has already been sentenced to 18 years in prison for dealing meth, while 31-year-old Oscar Galavan also agreed to plead guilty to dealing meth in exchange for the same 18 year term.
Three defendants, 56-year-old Luis Jaquez, 52-year-old Alejandro Nava Rodriguez, and 36-year-old Enedeo Rodriguez Jr., will have their trials on June 5. 21-year-old Jorge Fernandez, will have a separate trial on June 5. 31-year-old James Evans’ trial is July 18, and 31-year-old Heather Slone’s trial is set for Aug. 21.
All ten people in the case are accused of being part of the Jaquez Ring, which was raided by officers in November 2016.
