A former fire chief in LaPorte County will now be spending time behind bars.

Former Lincoln Township Volunteer Fire Department fire chief Dave Kaufman has been sentenced to four years in prison for trying to lure a 15-year-old boy into performing sex acts.

WSBT reports that Kaufman, who was called a “devil in disguise” by LaPorte County’s deputy prosecutor, claims that there were between 18 and 20 other victims dating back to 1993. Other victims did not step forward as the case against Kaufman was built.

Kaufman allegedly targeted young boys in a cadet program for the fire department.
