It’s a guilty verdict in the murder trial of 70-year-old Michael Young of Mishawaka.

Young has been convicted in the shooting death of 27-year-old Markest Flowers at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Main Street in downtown South Bend last year.

Young admitted to shooting Flowers after he claimed Flowers robbed a friend of his. He said he shot him to defend himself, but also admitted Flowers never attacked him.

Young will be sentenced late in July.
