South Bend Tribune to be printed in Grand Rapids starting Tuesday

The content may still be local, but the South Bend Tribune will now be printed elsewhere.

The last physical South Bend Tribune newspaper to be printed in the city of South Bend went off the press on Monday. The newspaper announced that it was shutting down its press back in May and outsourcing production to a press near Grand Rapids.

The Tribune’s publisher defended the decision in an op-ed, saying it’ll save on costs – noting that the press costs millions to maintain every year. 15 full time and 40 part time jobs are being affected as a result.

Tribune officials are reassuring the community, saying the writers will still be local, the paper will still be printed seven days a week, and delivery times will not change.
