A crash on U.S. 30 near Etna Green kills a woman from South Whitley.

First responders arrived at the intersection of U.S. 30 and S.R. 19 before 4 a.m. where they found 52-year-old Vicki Sue Bartz pinned inside of her Chevy Traverse.

Bartz was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office says blunt force trauma injuries was the cause of death.

Preliminary investigation indicates Bartz was traveling westbound on 30 when she stopped at S.R. 19 for a traffic light. A semi-tractor/trailer collided with the rear of her vehicle at highway speed.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigators indicate the semi driver might have fallen asleep prior to impact.

The crash remains under investigation.
