A homeless man living in South Bend is accused of doing something very inappropriate at a local church.

23-year-old Antone Lamar Mayfield was allegedly caught touching himself at a church in the 300 block of North Main St. this past Sunday. The South Bend Police Department says children were present.

Mayfield then reportedly returned to the church Wednesday morning. Church staff called police and Mayfield allegedly ran away when officers arrived.

Later that day, officers working the day shift found Mayfield at a downtown South Bend fast food restaurant. Witnesses from church identified him. He’s also accused by other witnesses of performing the same actions at a downtown parking garage Wednesday.

Mayfield is initially charged with Vicarious Sexual Gratification.
