South Bend police investigating shooting near community event

(Photo supplied/ABC 57)

One person is recovering after being shot Saturday night.

Police went to the 600 block of Arthur St. at about 9 p.m. Saturday on a shots fired report, but found nothing.

About an hour later, a victim walked into St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The person was treated and released.

A planned community event was taking place at the same time in Coquillard Park. Officers don’t believe the shooting was connected to it, though officers did go to the park to aid in crowd control.
