South Bend’s ReLeaf collection program starts Oct. 23

The City of South Bend’s 2017 ReLeaf program, to collect and dispose of loose leaves within the city, is set to start on Monday, Oct. 23 ,and will run to Thursday, Nov. 16.

This year, the City will split its leaf pickup crews into two units and start on either sides of the city to provide better coverage and efficiency. Crews will start in the Northeast and Southwest quadrants of the city concurrently and move in a clockwise direction. Click here for a map.

Residents are asked to follow these guidelines for the program:

  • Rake leaves to the tree lawn area and avoid raking them into the street, as this will plug the street storm drains causing them to flood during rain.
  • Avoid parking on top or in front of leaf piles along curb lines, as this hampers our crew from collecting the leaves.
  • Do not contaminate leaf piles by putting in sticks, trash, and other debris or crews will not pick those piles.
  • Residents can call 311 with any questions.
