Habitat for Humanity planning on building over two-dozen Michiana homes in 2018

Habitat For Humanity will make a huge impact in Michiana next year.

The Carter Work Project, named for the former president and first lady, is entering its 35th year. ABC 57 reports that Michiana was selected for projects in 2018, including 21 homes that will be built in a completely new neighborhood in Mishawaka. South Bend will also get 7 new homes, and major repairs will made to a few others.

The project will take place from Aug. 26-31 next year. Thousands of volunteers will participate in the projects, including the Carters themselves, country superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, and other notable names.

The houses aren’t free, but people seeking to own one of them can apply with the local Habitat For Humanity office.
