BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — A new study shows Indiana University ranks among the nation’s top 10 universities for students studying abroad.

The Herald Times reports that the 2017 International Education Exchange Open Doors Report ranks the university No. 7 for students who studied abroad for the 2015-16 school year.

The report shows more than 2,700 of the university’s students participated in its study-abroad programs that vary in length. Some programs are as short as eight days.

University President Michael McRobbie says the university has made an effort to increase participation in study-abroad programs for about 10 years.

David Zaret is the university’s vice president for international affairs. He says the university also saw a 6 percent increase from last year for the number of international applications received, while other large research universities saw declines.
