A former firefighter who lit seven structures on fire in southwest Michigan is going to prison.

40-year-old Kyle Norden was sentenced Monday to six to 20 years in prison for arson. He’s also ordered to pay over $500,000 in both court costs as well as restitution to the victims.

The former Hartford firefighter admitted to lighting five properties on fire in Van Buren County and two more in Berrien County. The fires all happened in October.

As part of a plea deal, Norden pled guilty to two of the six arson charges that he was facing.

WNDU reports Norden apologized at his sentencing and admitted he needs help battling depression.
