Threat reported at Elkhart Central High School

(Paige Mallory Passman/Elkhart Truth)

The Elkhart Community Schools informed parents Monday that they were aware of a potential threat against the schools.

Officials said that a note was discovered in a girls’ bathroom at Elkhart Central High School that indicated a schoolwide threat. In their message to parents, the schools said that whenever a threat is made to their students, staff, and schools, they work diligently with the Elkhart Police Department to assess and respond appropriately.

They say the Elkhart Police did not find any information that would substantiate this message as a credible threat, but additional precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety of students and staff.

There will be an increased police presence, and other safety precautions, on Friday, the date mentioned in the threat.
