A Warsaw man is facing battery on law enforcement charges for allegedly using a taser on a police officer.

Lucas Cook, 28, is accused of taking a taser from an officer and giving that officer a shock during a 911 call response.

The Times Union reports Cook suffers from schizophrenia and that a responding officer had prior knowledge of Cook not taking his medication.

Cook resisted being taken into custody, and instead closed a door onto an officer’s arm, hit the officer in the forehead, and then took and used another officer’s taser.

After the struggle, police were able to subdue Cook and take him to the Bowen Center for a 72-hour-emergency detention before his arrest.
