Man recovering after being shot in Elkhart Wal-Mart parking lot

A man is recovering after he was shot by another individual in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on County Road 6 West, according to Elkhart Police.

Officers were called to the scene just before 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, where they found the 36-year-old victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police reported.

The victim was with the male suspect, who is an acquaintance, when the gun went off, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The man was taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no word regarding what exactly led to the shooting.

Police have not released a description of the suspect, but they say he left the scene in an SUV, ABC 57 reported.
