Police: Teen detained after pointing BB gun at school children

Three teenagers are in trouble with the law after threatening school children with a B.B. gun.

Officers with the South Bend Police Department were called to Kennedy Primary Academy in the the 600 block of N. Olive around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19, on the report of three males approaching a school yard with one of them holding a firearm and pointing it at children, according to a news release from South Bend Police.

The males left the scene as officers arrived.

Detectives with the Investigative Bureau found the three males, identified as juveniles, walking away from the school.

It was determined one of the three, a 16-year-old, had a plastic BB gun. That teen was detained, according to the news release.

The other two juveniles were released to their parents and guardians.
