One person dead, another injured in shooting, stabbing near Wilson Primary Center in South Bend

A woman died after being shot and a man is recovering from a stabbing that happened early Saturday morning in the 56000 block of Oak Road in St. Jospeh County.

The 25-year-old man who was stabbed was found at a home. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman who was shot was found dead, nearby, outside of Woodrow Wilson Primary Center, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57. She is identified as Jessica Nacole Yost, 23, of South Bend.

An autopsy for Ms. Yost is tentatively scheduled for Monday.

St. Joseph County Metro Homicide are investigating what led to the stabbing and shooting.

The South Bend Community School Corporation released a statement saying the incident was not related to the school or any school workers and that the school is operating on a normal schedule.
