A 72-year-old man died after crashing his ultra-glide aircraft in Goshen.

It happened on Sunday, May 6, in the 17000 block of County Road 34, east of the Elkhart County Fairgrounds.

The pilot, identified as Lavern “Jim” Miller, died after colliding into an overhead garage door, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

Miller, who never went airborne with the aircraft, was attempting to “taxi” the aircraft prior to the crash occurring, the sheriff’s office reported.

The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office ruled the death accidental due to multiple blunt force trauma.
