Clay Township neighbors upset about proposed townhouse project

(95.3 MNC)

Not everyone is excited about a townhouse project in Clay Township.

Residents in the Fernwood subdivision along Cleveland Road between Juniper and Ironwood Roads are making their displeasure known about the proposed 28 townhouse project that is planned next door to them.

They contend the townhouses, which would be as tall as three stories, would violate their privacy, decrease their property values, and draw too much traffic. The South Bend Tribune reports the townhouses would cost $350,000 and would take the place of rental homes on the 4-acre property.

The project has already been downsized from 34 townhouses, and the property owner still needs rezoning and variance approvals before ground can be broken.
