Teshka elected to replace Varner on South Bend Common Council

The South Bend Common Council has a new member.

Jacob Teshka was elected by a caucus of precinct chairs for the South Bend Common Council’s 5th District to replace Dr. David Varner who announced his retirement last month.

The vote between Teshka and Davin Hackett, took place on Tuesday, June 5. Hackett is currently deployed in Afghanistan, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Teshka will complete Varner’s remaining term representing the people of the 5th District.

He also stated his intention to run for the position in 2019.

During the announcement of Tesha’s election, Lynn Fitzpatrick, Chair of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, stated the party is grateful to Dr. Varner for his many years of service to our community.
