Gas tax hike to increase gas prices in July

Summer gas prices are already the highest they’ve been in several years, but Hoosiers will be paying just a little bit more next month.

Starting July 1, drivers will be paying 1-cent more in tax per gallon of gas across Indiana.

It’s part of the 10-cent gas tax hike passed by state lawmakers.

Indiana’s fuel tax increase was part of a package of tax and fee increases that are pumping money into upgrading Indiana’s roads and bridges.

The state’s fuel tax rose from 18 cents to 28 cents last July with the option to go up 1 cent each year moving forward.
