Investigators will learn Tuesday if a missing person’s case has come to an end.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department was notified around 10:30 Monday night that bow fishermen had located the body of a white male in the river.

He had been spotted about 200 yards away from the Jasper Dairy boat ramp with high-powered lights in a tangle of debris and trees near the surface. The body was recovered and transported to Kalamazoo for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Deputies are saying that the body may be that of missing canoer Michael Scott of Kalamazoo, who disappeared on Saturday while canoing with friends. Officials are stopping short of confirming the identity of the body until the examination, expected to happen Tuesday.
