Michigan City man dies after train collides with vehicle

A man died after an Amtrak train struck a vehicle near Michigan City Thursday morning.

The victim was an older manwho was in the car that was hit by the train, according to Michigan City Police.

It happened at Eastwood and Tryon Roads with 198 passengers on board the train at the time. There were no other injuries reported in the crash.

Amtrak officials say the train was westbound from Grand Rapids to Chicago. The victim’s name has not been released.
