A stolen car was hit by a train early Saturday when it was left on the railroad tracks.

The white 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was registered to an Elkhart man, according to a Syracuse Police accident report.

The car was parked on the railroad crossing at North Oak Street near West Railroad Avenue, Syracuse. An eastbound train on the south tracks traveling about 40 mph hit the car shortly before 3:39 a.m. Saturday.

The train had three engines and was pulling 111 cars, the report states.

No one was injured.

Damage was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.
