Michigan City High School student facing weapons charges

A Michigan City High School faces charges after he allegedly had a gun on school property.

Police were told about the incident on Friday, Sep. 7, and the school was searched over the weekend, according to WNDU.

No weapons were found and officers remained at the school Monday as a precaution, WNDU reported.

The investigation led to a 17 year-old student who was interviewed, along with his parent, and a handgun was found at the home.

The student is in custody on charges of dangerous possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property, WNDU reported.
