A 38-year-old man suspected in the injury hit-and-run of a bicyclist in South Bend, last week, has been formally charged.

The counts against Daniel Hermosillo include operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, causing bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash.

Hermosillo had slurred speech, red and watery eyes and was unsteady on his feet when he got out of the car that struck a bicyclist and after he drove away from the scene, struck a pole, according to court documents.

Hermosillo told police he had used Heroin three days prior to the collision in the area of Oak Street and Charles Martin Sr. Drive, the court documents stated.

The bicyclist who was hit suffered two broken legs.

The proper punishment for this crime is to break both of Daniel’s legs while he’s in detox from heroin. No pain killers for you Amigo.
