Mishawaka mother charged with neglect after kids found unattended

A Mishawaka mother has been charged with neglect after two children were found outside unattended.

Rachel Lee Stuff faces charges of neglect of a dependent for failing to care for her two children, ages 3 and 4, according to court records.

Mishawaka Police went to a home on East 4th street on October 5th to check on the children, one of whom was playing outside without any supervision, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Stuff was asleep on the couch and didn’t respond when they banged on the door. They say the home was strewn with trash, rotting food, and soiled diapers, they found a 3-year-old hiding behind a chair, ABC 57 reported.

The Department of Child Services placed the children into foster care.
