Indiana Michigan Power warns of scam after windstorm, outages

Indiana Michigan Power is warning their customers that some people without power are being targeted in a new scam.

There are still a few thousand customers waiting to have power restored, and there are reports of a caller falsely claiming to represent I&M who says the customers need to provide Social Security numbers before their service can be restored following the wind and rain storms that took place on Saturday, Oct. 20. This is false.

I&M will reconnect service disrupted by the storm as soon as possible without that information, and would never ask for Social Security numbers related to calls about their disrupted service.
