CONSUMER ALERT: Recall for some birth control due to incorrect instructions

(95.3 MNC)

The Janssen pharmaceutical company has issued a voluntary nationwide recall for birth control pill packages due to a packaging error.

They say the mistake could cause “unintended pregnancy” or possible bleeding. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the incorrect instructions could cause a consumer to take the pills in the wrong order, but the product itself is safe and effective with the right instructions.

Active pills for Ortho-Novum 1/3 are peach-colored, while Ortho-Novum 7/7/7 pills are light-peach, peach, and white-colored.
