Elkhart County Jail officials stop alleged drug-smuggling operation

Officials at the Elkhart County Jail say they have stopped an alleged drug-smuggling operation.

Kristi Haley is accused of mailing synthetic marijuana and Suboxone, which is an opioid addiction treatment drug, to her boyfriend Dwight Hawkins, according to WSBT.

Hawkins is an inmate at the jail and is believed to have been selling drugs to other inmates, WSBT reports.

Haley faces a felony drug trafficking charge and Hawkins remains jailed on a number of previous felonies.
