Former South Bend Attorney pleads guilty to a pair of fraud charges

A former South Bend attorney has pleaded guilty to two of the nine counts against him.

Eric Marshall has been accused of running a Ponzi scheme that scammed the elderly and disappearing with funds. The South Bend Tribune reports that Marshall has entered a guilty plea to mail and securities fraud, related to one specific client.

However, he maintains that he is not guilty of the other seven charges he faces regarding other clients who had entrusted him with money before he allegedly skipped town.

If Marshall is found guilty of the two counts, he faces up to 40 years of prison, assuming his plea is accepted.
