A New Jersey man was sentenced in U.S. District Court in South Bend after pleading guilty to possession with the intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.

Stanford Wylie, 51, of Palisades Park, was sentenced to 97 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Wylie was pulled over on I-90 in September 2018, and was transporting a suitcase containing approximately 11 kilograms of cocaine and 1 kilogram of heroin.

The suitcase was discovered by a Hobart Police Officer and his K-9 partner.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, law enforcement learned that Wylie made numerous cross-country trips transporting controlled substances and currency between Los Angeles, California and New Jersey.
