Police: Girl, 16, in custody after removing ankle monitor, stealing deputy’s SUV

Kosciusko County deputies say a 16 year-old girl is in custody after a chase that involved her removing an ankle monitor, escaping by stealing a deputy’s SUV, and then crashing that SUV before attempting to flee again on foot.

The teen faces 10 juvenile counts, including burglary and drug possession.

Deputies had been searching for her since May 21, when she removed her ankle monitor and ran away.

Five other departments assisted deputies in the arrest, which ended at a residence on the south side of Lake Wawasee.
